This review is from: Samsung UN40D6000 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (Black)
This is my second 40" panel from Samsung. I bought a 6500 series panel last year and have been pretty happy with it. A good experience with my existing tv plus limited choices in smart tv category prompted me to purchase this one when I needed a new TV for the kitchen. Long story short:
Like:
- picture quality
- smart interface and ability to have access to multiple content providers
- dnla and ability to stream from any computer or NAS on the home network
- ease of network configuration and WIFI setup with an optional USB wifi adapter
- iPhone app For remote control
- incredibly thin
- did I mention picture quality?
No Like:
- WTF with the absence of the Yahoo widget and why can I not install it on this tv? You cannot access Amazon Prime without Yahoo app. Beware of this limitation. I am still like "WTF"
- shiny glossy screen reflects everything like my Mac does :). Do not put in front of windows :-) the screen makes picture prettier though
- movies sound like crap. You can barely hear the dialog no matter what sound setting. You will probably use external speaker though. Regular cable content sounds fine.
- some inevitable light bleed (clouding). Inevitable because of the edge lit LED. Most tvs equipped with that technology will exhibit light bleeding on very dark scenes.
Overall: great tv, good remote, excellent picture, and networking capabilities. I am still perplexed with the Yahoo widget and amazon prime situation.
